Growing Up In the Valley magazine is proud to announce their partnership with Hometown Bank to bring the Roanoke Valley a free Mini Library program for kids and their parents.
The mini libraries will be found at 12 locations throughout the Roanoke Valley and will offer kids and parents an opportunity to borrow books for free! The mini library program works just like a regular library only on the honor system. Kids and parents will fine books for all ages and all reading levels and can take a book at anytime to enjoy, or even drop off books they want to leave for another reader!
“Reading is the single most important thing a child learns at a young age”, says Josh Eagan, Publisher of Growing Up In the Valley. “Children who are at grade level reading by the third grade are primed for success and very likely to continue to develop a love of reading. Hometown Bank’s partnership will allow us to help kids develop their reading skills while their parents continue to develop their love of reading.”
Each month, Growing Up In the Valley will add one new book to each box throughout the Roanoke Valley. This book will be featured and reviewed in that month’s Growing Up In the Valley Magazine allowing readers to get a preview of what they will be able to find in their local Mini Library.
The Library boxes will begin to appear throughout the region starting September 5th and should be entirely in place by the end of the month. However, Growing Up In the Valley is still actively looking for even more locations to put new boxes. “We have access to dozens more boxes and we want to put them to use! Businesses around the region who want to have a Library at their location are encouraged to call us!”
